Scarlet Runner Beans

Spring makes me want to grow things. I've never grown beans before, but there's a first time for everything, right?

I didn't have a balcony last year, but I do now which makes it even more fun growing things.

Sifting through garden books and browsing the Internet is half the fun - planning and dreaming about a lush garden and about growing edible things.

However, for the the time being, I'll have to settle for indoor growing and putting plants in pots on the balcony.

In the shop the other day, I found some beautiful beans that I'm going to sow indoors. In a month or two, I'll hopefully be able to move them outdoors.

Aren't they just beautiful...?! So decorative that I almost reluctantly put them in the dirt...

Growing tomatoes

Springtime - time to sow some seeds.

This year, I'm growing my own tomatoes among other things. A couple of weeks ago, I sowed some tomatoe seeds. This is their size so far:

I'm going to keep a couple on the windowsill while another couple will be moved outside to the balcony when they get bigger and when the weather allows it.

Two plants are to be given away to a family member who's got a huge balcony which gets a lot of sunshine.
